This is really a complicated subject. I started school late; I will finish my undergrad when I am 27, and will start graduate school that year. I figure I'll finish when I'm 33-35. If it takes 5-6 years to land tenure I'll be anywhere from 38 to 41 by then.

Thankfully, women in my family go through menopause in their late 50s but what about the health of the baby? I'm not suggesting organic chemistry labs be turned into a day care but forbidding female scientists to have babies seems to be shoving society one step further to the world of Idiocracy.

Serving in the Navy during a period of active combat, I've been aroused from sleep by enough loud booms for a lifetime. Since being a teacher is about passing on knowledge, I have chosen to share this experience with them by creeping up, while still lecturing and, once near them, jumping into the air and shouting "boom!" as loudly as possible. I've been told this is quite entertaining. And it works, too, because I usually only have one person sleep per semester. So sleeping doesn't get me...reading the school paper in class, that's another story.
